Bringing the 2018-19 Pallas graphics to life
The 2018-19 Pallas graphics tell a complicated story of manipulative beauty and the relationship between nature-made and man-made.
Purple, orange, and blue shades of winter alpenglow set the canvas for the 3-piece snowboard series; each hue juxtaposed by a toxic, unnatural color that remind us that human influence and contradiction exists throughout nature — a common sight in our often-polluted hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah.
The mountain wildlife, as illustrated by Salt Lake City artist Claire Taylor, and deep sea creatures, chosen by Whistler-based designer Lenka Prochazka, are odd pairings that come from two very different habitats; but human curiosity, as depicted by the anonymous hands, connects the disparate species, a result of humans’ innate and insatiable desire to rationalize our actions and curiosity.
