Epiphany (Alpine Series) Splitboard, Gear Guide Award Winner!

Anyone who knows Pallas knows how much love, care and attention we put into our shapes. But, this gives us a biased view, so every few years we submit to the industry gear guide reviews just to keep ourselves honest.

With humility, it’s rare that we aren’t recognized in some way. This year we had a repeat winner with the Epiphany shape. Specifically, the Epiphany (Alpine Series); the high-performance over-achiever younger sister of the Epiphany won 2025’s ‘Gear Guide Select’ for Backcountry Magazine’s industry standard ski and splitboard review.

A little background. Our process is unique in the world of snowboarding; we lead the field of women’s custom, hand-built, specialty snowboards, yet remain engaged with traditional manufacturing so that we can bring those shapes to a larger audience. The Epiphany was one of our first shapes and since 2013 has had a long, colorful history. Over the years it has become our iconic do-it-all split, traveling the world from the Antarctic to Finland and racking up snowboarding experiences we can only dream about.

The industry has not provided many performance options geared for women, which is total bullshit. The Epiphany (Alpine Series) is the women’s peak-performance splitboard. In common with the regular Epiphany it features a camber profile that provides both maximum traction on the skinner and nimble handling on the ride as well as a slightly directional and mid-tapered shape that provides a fast yet stable platform; and that holds it’s own in variable alpine conditions while also providing an unsinkable feel in powder. Then, we added some technologies from our partnership with Chimera Snowboards. First, the Alpine Series Epiphany uses a hardboot-compatible toe-piece insert pattern that allows direct mount of ‘tech-toe’ hardware without an adaptor, which provides the optimum balance point for the ski (better skinning), saves weight, and reduces the chances of failure. Second, we use our ‘bUHMper’ sidewall technology that uses an integrated UHMW plastic sidewall / edge along the split edge, which offers a completely natural flex profile (just like your solid) for responsive and powerful riding with bombproof protection. Third; we made a few tweaks under the hood to the core, laminates and carbon stringers that make the ride just a little more geared to high-energy riding.

Backcountry Magazine’s annual gear review is legit; women are well-represented as an integral part of the process, and they contact us every year to ask us to participate. We urge you to get the 2025 Gear Guide Edition, but below is a quick read of the Epiphany review in case you’re interested.

Our favorite line? It’s a coin flip between it’s easy to open up big carves at speed and handles variable snow like a freight trainand a quiver-killer for strong, big-mountain riders who appreciate stability”.

We personally think it's also one of funnest, turny-ist shapes, we have, but if you want to find out for yourself you are welcome to demo one for free (once winter starts) here.
